Admission

Please note: Admission is managed by the University of Leipzig. Regardless of your preferred study location, all applications must be submitted to Leipzig University. For inquiries, please contact the EMGS Office at:

Admission Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in the humanities or social sciences, with a minimum of 15% global studies–relevant courses, e.g. courses in the field of History, Area Studies, Economics, Cultural Studies, Sociology, Political Science and Human Geography.

  • Proficiency in English (needs to be proven with an official English certificate)

  • Knowledge of another foreign language at the A2 level (to be proven with an official certificate or equivalent proof) 


Application Deadlines

  • March 15, 2025 (for Erasmus Mundus scholarship)
  • May 31, 2025 (without scholarship)

Tuition fees

  • Tuition fees are €2000 per year.
  • The fees cover the participation in all courses offered within the EMGS programme and includes support for administrative and organisational issues.

Scholarships

  1. Erasmus Mundus Scholarship
    This scholarship covers all tuition fees as well as a living allowance of €1,400 per month and basic medical coverage. It is given to highly qualified applicants only.   2. Erasmus+ Grant
    If you are admitted to the EMGS program without an EMGS Mundus Scholarship, you can apply for an Erasmus+ grant, offering €500-600 monthly support for your second EMGS year. Remember, apply through your first-year university. Additional details will be provided by the local administrative coordinator at each university.
