HEALTH INSURANCE

It is recommendable to take out insurance in Vienna with the ÖGK (Österreichische Gesundheitskasse). It costs € EUR 63.44 [as of 2021] per month. Please find more information here:

TIPS (link, new tab)

Once arrived you should go to the main office in Wienerbergstraße 15-19, 1120 Wien, where they give out the contract right away. When applying at one of the branches, you will have to wait about two weeks to receive the documents by mail, as they first submit the application to the main office, which in turn sends the documents to the client.

If you are insured in another country, it is okay, but keep in mind that in this case normally you have to pre-finance the costs of treatment before you submit the invoice to your insurance
